Pentagon Symbol On Glocks
Glock Talk is absolutely useless to it's meaning. Any old salts on GIM have a clue?
Was my 21 used by the Secret Service or something? Right after the serial number is a prominent pentagon. |
Re: Pentagon Symbol On Glocks
Don't have it on mine....maybe you got a collectors edition there!

Re: Pentagon Symbol On Glocks
Nah, tons and tons of guys on glock talk have it, but no one has any ideas. Apparently only Glock knows it's meaning. The threads over there are old, so someone has to have an inkling to what it means by now.

Early Austrian proof-tested barrels (@130% pressure rate) bore an eagle followed by NPv and some letters. Later it changed to a pentagon, which I think designates Smyrna, GA. proofed barrel and US assembly...but I could be wrong.
Here is the earlier mark...I have a 2nd Gen Model 19 with similar markings and it is an Austrian-built Glock. All the rest of mine have the pentagon marking. |
Re: Pentagon Symbol On Glocks
Wow, what you say not only makes sense but checks out. My Glock was manufactured in Smyrna, GA as you mentioned.
The guys on Glock Talk are debating Hexagonal and Octagonal barrels and how the Pentagon means one or the other. This at least makes sense, rather than the, "It was used by the CIA" rumors that I keep reading. |
Re: Pentagon Symbol On Glocks
My Gen 3 G22 has the HEX barrel WITH the Pentagon on it. Just in case it matters.
It doesn't to me. But the 'made in Smyrna' thing makes sense. Gotta be able to differentiate between manufacturers location somehow. |
